Bath |
Bath is a World
Heritage site surrounded by the Cotswold and Mendip hills. A
university city, it is a popular place to live and work, with easy
access to outstanding culture (Bath Music Festival, Theatre Royal),
and sport (cycling, Premiership rugby, golf, tennis, and sailing on
Chew Valley Lake).
There are excellent road and rail links to London, the West Country
and the North. There is a wide selection of schools and housing.
The Vocational Training Scheme is based at the Royal United
Hospital. The mixture of 3-year and 2.5-year rotations include A&E,
O&G, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Rheumatology, Care of the Elderly, ENT
and dermatology.
There may also an innovative 2-year Trust-attached GP Registrar
Scheme, with hospital attachments in genito-urinary medicine,
palliative care and A&E.
Successful applicants will have a choice of super training
practices, which include rural, market town and city-centre locations.
The VTS is run by Michael Harris, an experienced Programme
Organiser. The highly regarded whole-day release course gives
excellent preparation for the MRCGP examination and for life as a GP. |

Gloucestershire GPVTS welcomes Doctors
who wish to train to become GPs. We provide all the courses necessary
for accreditation as a GP. The VTS Hospital Posts are based on
Cheltenham & Gloucester Hospitals.
Training Practices are available throughout the
Cotswolds,
Gloucester,
Cheltenham,
Stroud Valleys
and the
Forest of Dean.
The Half-Day Release Scheme and the residential courses are
tailored to the learning needs of the GP Registrars. The Scheme has an
extremely high success rate in the MRCGP examination - tuition is led
by local RCGP Examiners.

The West Somerset VTS
is based in
Taunton with easy
access to beautiful countryside, historic centres, beaches, moors and
even massive music festivals at Glastonbury. Quality of life issues
score highly and added to that we can offer high quality training
practices and a well-established vocational training scheme. The three
course organisers are all experienced educationalists who are in
active and innovative practices.
The scheme is expanding and each of the nine jobs on offer will allow
the registrar an area to develop into an area of expertise to take
into general practice.During the time in the Paediatric post one
person per 6 months will be taken on as the experienced SHO and given
additional educational support so they can develop addition Paeds
skills and that will give them additional responsibility within the
unit. |

This highly active scheme with a single course organiser allows 2
doctors in general practice posts, 8 SHOs in hospital posts and up to
4 freelance registrars to form an enjoyable, supportive and closely
knit study group for 3 years of VTS Training. Half day release course
30 days each year plus whole day training time yearly.
